Dr. Powell recently returned from San Diego where he accompanied the US Soccer Women's National Team in their final tune-up game against Brazil as they prepare for the Olympics in Beijing.  Unfortunately, leading scorer Abby Wambach sustained a broken leg that required surgery for placement of a titanium rod in her tibia.  She will miss the Olympics and return to play in four to six months.

Dr. Bojan Zoric, who is completing his Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado, will be joining Stetson Powell Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in August.  He is a specialist in Sports Medicine with a focus on arthroscopy of the hip.

Dr. Powell and Dr. Stetson traveled to Havana, Cuba in 2004 and 2005 to teach Cuban orthopedic surgeons how to perform arthroscopic shoulder surgery.  Videos from the trips can be viewed on the Multimedia viewer.

Dr. Powell and his wife, the Santa Monica-based Oculoplastic and Reconstructive surgeon Cynthia Boxrud, MD, recently collaborated on the design of a pillow to support the neck and reduce wrinkles around the eyes while sleeping. Dubbed the "Anti-Wrinkle Pillow," the patented device also gives support to the neck to reduce restlessness while sleeping. Considered a world expert on the origin and treatment of Dark Circles under the eye, Dr. Boxrud has also patented a Dark Circle Cream which is part of her Eyetopia Collection. For more information, see Here.
