My husband had surgery on his right shoulder for a slight SLAP tear and some general repetitive injury issues. He is a computer animator and the injury was to his money-maker arm; to say we were apprehensive is an understatement. Dr Powell and his staff made the entire process as easy as possible.

He is a great communicator. I was so grateful for the time he took to explain the surgery to me while my husband was in recovery. He trouble shot a potential problem right there in scrubs in the waiting room-- what a relief. You can tell his office is staffed with healthcare professionals that truly care about serving people. Jen and Suzie in the front office were extremely professional, while at the same time being so kind with my pesty phone calls, and many questions. My family is very grateful to Dr. Powell and his entire team.

I had been experiencing pain in my right knee since July of 2007. I had been to a doctor and they had said "stay off of it for a week, do physical therapy and you should be fine". Well of course, that was wrong, and thanks to a friend I ended up at Dr.Powell's office in January 2008, still with the same problem, but sometimes even worse. Dr.Powell immediately had me scheduled for an MRI, and shortly after he performed a very easy surgery. I had never had surgery even after playing College Volleyball, and years of other sports, so I was very hesitant. The surgery and staff were absolutely wonderful, it was very private, and comfortable and although I hope that I never need surgery again....Dr.Powell is the only person I would ever go back to. Feeling great today, and still getting my normal month in check-ups. Thanks to everyone at Dr.Powells facility you were/are wonderful! -Jamie Grass

Dear Dr. Powell,
I just want to thank you and your excellent staff for your stellar performance in fixing up both my knees this past year. I've recently been building up my running regimen bit by bit and feel like I have a new lease on life. And I owe it all to you.

When I first came in you correctly diagnosed a meniscus tear where a previous physician had suspected a ligament strain. That misdiagnosis had prevented me from running for an entire year. You fixed the meniscus problem in quick fashion, but during rehab I got overexuberant on an elliptical trainer and tore the ACL in my other knee. The surgery and recovery for that injury kept me down another eight months.

But now I'm back and planning to run in the LA Marathon in a little less than a year as a way of easing back into marathoning. My ultimate goal has always been to qualify for and run the Boston Marathon. You've not only given me the healthy knees which to make my run at that but also the encouragement and confidence needed to succeed, and when I finally run Boston I'll have you to thank for it.
I can never thank you enough for your expertise, optimism, willingness to listen and good humor. As a small reward I've been referring as many ailing friends and colleagues as possible your way - and will continue to do so. I wish you and your staff all the best in the future - you deserve it.

I've been active in sports since I was 8 yrs old. I played rugby for 16 yrs, trained in martial arts for 10 yrs, weight trained and rode dirt bikes all of my life. In my early 30's I began having shoulder problems - constant pain and limited mobility. I consider myself extremely lucky to have found Dr. Powell. Dr. Powell performed arthroscopic surgery on my left shoulder in December of 2007. I can't express my gratitude to the professionalism and care provided by everyone involved - from the staff at the Burbank office to those in the Santa Monica surgical center - I felt not only comfortable but had the confidence that I was in very capable hands. The surgery was a resounding success. I had zero cartilage in my shoulder, bone on bone, and multiple tears - I'm now pain free. I can sleep throughout the night, I am back in training and gaining strength every week. My only regret is that I didn't find Dr. Powell sooner.

After suffering with a torn meniscus for over a year I finally went to see Dr Powell. See I am a big chicken when surgery is in the air! Aren't we all? The sad part is I am a 6' 3" former NCAA football player.

After visiting with Dr Powell, I felt extremely confident in his abilities and more importantly his care for me as a patient. I agreed to have the procedure done.

On the day of surgery, if my wife hadn't dropped me off I most likely would have run home. I was absolutely terrified. This was my first surgery ever.

As I lay waiting in the Pre Op area, Dr Powell's nurse really put me at ease. See she too was operated on by Dr Powell on a few months earlier. She said the worst part of it all would be getting the IV in. She was absolutely right. I "fell asleep" and awoke to a smiling Dr Powell telling me everything went
great.

It is now 4 days after the surgery and my knee feels better than ever. I was able to walk the second day without my crutches!More importantly I have no pain! Its truly amazing to me.

I cannot recommend Dr Powell and his staff enough. They are truly gifted and really take care of their patients.

Thanks Dr Powell! Cheers, Dave

For the past two years, I have dealt with pain in my left foot as the result of plantar fasciitis. For me, this was a huge problem since I am a professional soccer player with the U.S. Women’s National Team. In order to be at my full potential for World Cup Qualifying last fall and then the Women’s World Cup in the Fall of 2007, I sought treatment for my worsening foot pain. Dr. Powell examined me, ordered an MRI and developed a groundbreaking treatment method that returned me to full strength before my next tournament. Using a combination of high energy shockwave therapy and a platelet rich plasma injection, Dr. Powell helped me return to international competition only 7 weeks after undergoing the procedure. The treatment I received at Stetson-Powell Orthopedics was an important contribution to my soccer career. I am thankful for Dr. Powell’s compassion and excellent care.

I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle in September 2006 and separated my shoulder. After enduring fairly severe pain and limited use of my arm for four months, Dr. Powell operated on me in January of 2007. Though my injury was complex and extensive, I have regained roughly 90% in range-of-motion and expect to recover completely. From the beginning I had complete confidence in Dr. Powell's knowledge and ability. He always had time to answer questions, and his answers were clear and straightforward. Plus, S/P has the best waiting room in the business.

I was referred to Dr. Powell as the result of a right shoulder injury. My entire arm was frozen in place, including my lower arm. All the lymph fluids had gathered below myelbow and I was in significant pain.

This was my first serious injury and I was really frightened. Upon meeting Dr. Powell and his staff, everything changed. He immediately diagnosed exactly what was wrong and scheduled me for surgery. He also dealt quickly with the pain and spasms I was experiencing. The surgery was a resounding success. I have full function and range of motion restored to my arm and shoulder.

Both Dr. Powell and his staff were utterly professional, kind, patient and showed great concern for both my family and me. I reallyappreciated the efficiency of the staff in all matters. It made my experience so much easier, especially when I was unwell.

Thank you, Dr. Powell for your expertise and caring. This entire practice is one of a kind.

My son Luke was in a backpacking accident in June, and fell about 25 feet from a cliff outside Yosemite. We brought Luke to Dr Powell at 8 am the morning after he got out of the ER in Fresno. (I think he came in early to meet us) After spending most of the day in his office and in Xray, we discovered the extent of his injuries were more serious than what the ER had found. Dr Powell sent us to a wonderful eye specialist to evaluate Luke's orbital fracture, and to a great spinal surgeon to evaluate the spinal fractures that the ER missed. Then Dr. Powell dealt with the broken ankle that needed surgery and the dislocated wrist. Dr. Powell was wonderful to Luke and our family, as we had many questions and concerns. We have developed complete confidence in him as a doctor and a surgeon. He patiently spent time with us, especially at the beginning when we learned of the back fracture and saw the horrible looking xrays. By the way, his office is very "Hi-Tech", which we really appreciated! Today Lucas had his cast and ankle boot removed, and walked out of Dr. Powell's office on his own two feet without crutches! It was a great day for all of us.
We highly recommend Dr. Powell and his office team. Luke has had absolutely excellent care which far exceeded our expectations!

On May 24th, I had knee arthroscopic surgery performed by Dr. Powell. This was the first time I had ever had surgery and I was terrified. His entire team, from his Burbank office staff to the nurses and anesthetist in Santa Monica, was absolutley wonderful! Everyone was very helpful, kind, patient and understanding at whatever their purpose was in the process. They seemed to sense my fears and were quick to help me be more at ease. I sincerely appreciate the care I received from this group. Thank you Dr. Powell!!

Unfortunately I needed an Orthopedic Surgeon twice this summer; fortunately I was referred to Dr. Scott Powell of Stetson Powell. His demeanor, knowledge and confidence in both instances left me feeling absolutely comfortable and secure with his findings. One of these visits led to surgery, my third arthroscopic surgery on the same knee in four years (I guess I should consider giving up yoga). Dr. Powell and his team took exquisite care of me and even referred me to a fine doctor in New York for follow-up treatment, as I am headed back East for the fall. I would without hesitation recommend the gang at Stetson Powell for any such procedures; though I wish they would implement a policy whereby should any patient require two surgeries, he gets a free Stetson hat. My thanks to Dr. Powell and all that I met in his office.

I recently received a letter and brochure about the new practice Dr. Powell and Dr. Stetson have created. I want to thank Dr. Powell for assisting me while at Kaiser for an ACL reconstruction back in Aug.2002. I searched far and wide for the best and was referred to Dr. Powell. The surgery was a success and I was able to fulfill my dream of returning to soccer and training at the collegiate level. I am very excited to hear Dr. Powell is physician for the Women's National Soccer Team. As I further my career studies in sports nutrition I hope to some day be part of such a winning team. Thank you again for your care and expertise.
